Dr. Marya Deda

As your practitioner at Deda Acupuncture my approach is holistic. I like to consider all aspects affecting your life when I put together a plan of care for my clients and to that end I have studied a broad range of modalities.

A graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, I earned both a doctoral degree and master’s degree in acupuncture and East Asian medicine. Specializing in traditional and five element acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and Zen Shiatsu, I have over twenty years of experience.

An avid climber, I understand the importance of sport performance and how acupuncture can help both execution and endurance.

I am also certified in orthopedic acupuncture, a master of Aroma Acupoint Therapy, and upon completion of training in 2012, a skilled Qi Gong teacher, practicing several Ling Gui style qi gong forms.

A dedicated student of Chinese herbs, I received a Diplomat in East Asian Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine. And in 2010-2011, I completed an in-depth study of Shang Han Lun/Jing Gui, two ancient Chinese herbal texts and therapies focused on enhancing healing benefits found in plant medicine. I also completed two externships with Dr. Lee Chen-Yr, one of Taiwan’s most renown Chinese medicine doctors. The externship focused on advanced acupuncture techniques as well as herbal formulas for complex illnesses, autoimmune illnesses, stroke and cancer.

The overarching focus of my practice has been resolving pain and discomfort caused by imbalance. This includes motor-vehicle-accident related pain, sports injuries, chronic headaches and other chronic pain, irregular and painful menstruation, allergies, asthma, digestive problems, fatigue, as well as a variety of mental health and emotional issues.

I’m always learning new methods of care and I welcome the opportunity to serve you.
